Gala Anniversary Event a Huge Success!

Remember the Luther Institute with an End of the Year Gift!

The Luther Institute's Gala, 25th Anniversary Dinner was a huge success! Over 130 people gathered on the roof top of 101 Constitute Avenue (pictured above) for the event, featuring renowned Church History scholar Dr. Martin E. Marty, as Keynote speaker. Attendee's jaws dropped when they stepped out onto the roof top to see the spectacular view of the lighted Capitol dome, seemingly so close they could reach out and touch it! As the guests mingled, they were treated to the music of the "String Poets", a classical trio of violins and cello playing softly in the center of the heated tent where the festivities were held. The Luther Institute wishes to thank the following for being honorary sponsors of the event: Their excellencies,Ambassador Wegger Chr. Strommen of the Royal Norwegian Embassy; Ambassador Jonas Hafstrom of the Embassy of Sweden; Ambassador Friis Arne Petersen, of the Royal Danish Embassy; Ambassador Pekka Lintu of the Embassy of Finland; Ambassador Jocelyn Radifera, of the Embassy of Madagascar; Ambassador Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, of the Embassy of Croatia. Other honorary sponsors were ELCA Bishops Richard Graham; H. Gerald Knoche and James Mauney of the Metropolitan Washington D.C., Delaware-Maryland and Virginia Synods. President Jon Diefenthaler of the Southeastern District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, was also an honorary sponsor. The Honorable Lois Capps and Tom Lantham of California and Iowa, were also honorary sponsors. The Luther Institute, like every other non-profit in the country, it seems, has continuing financial needs, especially during this time of economic uncertainty. Please consider sending in an "end of the year" contribution in celebration of the Institute's 25 years of ministry! The Institute gratefully acknowledges the many gifts sent in by those attending our November 8th Gala Celebration!

The Luther Institute advances the role of faith and ethics in public life through learning, service, and leadership. Based in the nation's capital, the Luther Institute offers seminars, conferences, and publications for laity and clergy. An inter-Lutheran organization, it recognizes and serves leaders, scholars, educators, and those in social ministries, both within and outside of the Lutheran community.
